The End of My Internship at The Hive
Today marks the official end of my paid internship of 500 hours at The Hive of the Ozarks. So I enjoyed a delectable breakfast there to celebrate. (The breakfast sandwich in this video is the Crescent Morning Sandwich, which I announced when it became available this May.) Not only that, BUT next Monday morning, I will begin a new job: I will be a Substitute Food Service Cook for Willard High School in Willard, Missouri. Melissa Skaggs, the President and owner of The Hive, and Missy Lucas, an occasional customer affiliated with Willard Public Schools, invited me to apply for this job last month, implying that it would make me a good opportunity.
I am glad, even honored, that I completed this revolutionary opportunity for work experience at The Hive, for being on the autism spectrum. After all, The Hive intended to provide work experience to persons with disabilities, hence the slogan "Different Abilities, Same Opportunities".
Special thanks to Paulina Mondragon, of MERS/Goodwill, for serving as my job coach at The Hive throughout our first month in business; as well as Melissa Skaggs for her support as my supervisor from beginning to end. Additional special thanks to Ryan Barker, of Springfield Grocer Services, for delivering food products to The Hive; and to Braydn Daniel, of Rice Equipment Service, for repairing our espresso machine back in May. Very special thanks also to Kim Ashton Evans, a volunteer who works for Mercy, for recording my behind-the-scenes video about how I edited my marketing videos this spring.
